What we do – The Addiction Recovery Process Program

At The Whitehaven Clinic we provide counselling and a day rehabilitation program that is individually designed for each client. Our focus is to assist the client in obtaining awareness in why they do what they do in regards to their addiction by providing insight into the underlying root cause of their addiction. Our Addiction Recovery Process is a self-paced program designed for clients to go as fast or as slow as they need to.

The second key focus is on improving the overall quality of life for our client. The nature of addiction wreaks havoc on a client’s life and typically life has become very chaotic and complicated – with a ton of drama thrown in! The Addiction Recovery Process Program outlines ways in which a client can increase their levels of psychological healthiness so that they are better equipped to deal with the many hurdles life can bring.

The Addiction Recovery Process program looks at addiction from a personality perspective – understanding what patterns have unfolded because of the underlying root cause. Our goal is to ensure that clients are equipped for long-term recovery and self-empowered so that they know why they do what they do.

Our key points of difference at The Whitehaven Clinic:-

  1. Our programs are individualised (no group work)
  2. Sessions are 120 minutes long (instead of the traditional 50 minute hours)
  3. Intensive, one-on-one, personalised programs
  4. We believe in a social learning model – that old ingrained behaviours can be unlearned and replaced with new, healthier strategies
  5. Identifying the root cause of your addiction determines the healing journey
  6. We teach clients about themselves, their personality triggers and encourage self-empowerment
  7. Our strategies can be applied to every area of your life, not just overcoming addiction

Step 1: Initial Assessment

The first step to engagement is to book an initial assessment where we meet with you to gauge where you’re at and whether we can assist in your recovery journey. This also gives you the opportunity to judge whether or not our service would be of benefit.

Step 2: Choosing whether to engage in the Addiction Recovery Process Program

Once you have attended the Initial Assessment, should you choose to continue, we develop an individualized plan and work one-on-one with you in your recovery journey.

The ongoing program depends on a number of factors including:

  1. Budget
  2. Availability of the client (most of our clients are working or have family commitments they must still meet)
  3. Where in the recovery journey the client is at (e.g. still using, not recently used, maintenance, etc)

Depending on the above factors, we usually recommend between 2 – 3 sessions per week in the first 3 weeks, then moving to twice a week, once a week, etc. Although you can stop your program at any time, we suggest that program participants look towards a 6-8 week commitment to ensure that they have a solid foundation before exiting.

Program Costs

The Initial Assessment appointment is 120 minutes in duration and costs $350.00 (GST inclusive). Subsequent sessions are $250 per session. Payment can be made on completion of the appointment by credit card, EFTPOS or cash.
